Letter to the Editor An ongoing parallax microlensing event OGLE-1999-CAR-1 toward Carina
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the first microlensing event toward the Carina spiral arm discovered by the OGLE collaboration. We demonstrate that this long duration event exhibits strong parallax signatures. Additional information from the parallax effect allows us to determine the lens transverse velocity projected onto the Sun-source line to be ∼ 145 km s−1. We also estimate the optical depth, event rate and duration distribution for microlensing toward Carina. We show that this event is broadly consistent with these predictions.

متن کاملOgle - 2000 - Bul - 43 : a Spectacular Ongoing Parallax Microlensing Event . Difference Image Analysis
We present the photometry and theoretical models for a Galactic bulge microlensing event OGLE-2000-BUL-43. The event is very bright with I = 13.54 mag, and has a very long time scale, t E = 156 days. The long time scale and its light curve deviation from the standard shape strongly suggest that it may be affected by the parallax effect. We show that OGLE-2000-BUL-43 is the first discovered micr...
متن کاملParallax Microlensing Events in the OGLE II Database Toward the Galactic Bulge
We present a systematic search for parallax microlensing events among a total of 512 microlensing candidates in the OGLE II database for the 1997-1999 seasons. We fit each microlensing candidate with both the standard microlensing model and also a parallax model that accounts for the Earth’s motion around the Sun. We then search for the parallax signature by comparing the χ of the standard and ...
متن کاملOptical Gravitational Lensing Experiment. OGLE-1999-BUL-19: The First Multi-Peak Parallax Event
We describe a highly unusual microlensing event, OGLE-1999-BUL-19. Unlike most standard microlensing events, this event exhibits multiple peaks in its light curve. The Einstein radius crossing time for this event is approximately one year, which is unusually long. We show that the additional peaks in the light curve can be caused by the very small value for the relative transverse velocity of t...
متن کاملOptical Gravitational Lensing Experiment. OGLE-1999-BUL-32: the Longest Ever Microlensing Event – Evidence for a Stellar Mass Black Hole?
We describe the discovery of the longest microlensing event ever observed, OGLE-1999-BUL-32, also independently identified by the MACHO collaboration as MACHO-99-BLG-22. This unique event has an Einstein radius crossing time of 641 days. The high quality data obtained with difference image analysis shows a small but significant parallax signature. This parallax effect allows one to determine th...
